Comments: Vorlon Cheer is a lovely pink toned flower with a darker red eye band that shows red veins radiating out onto the petals, all above beautifully tinted black scapes with exceptional branching and bud counts. As far as I know, Vorlon Cheer (and the other pink, dark scaped cultivars I have introduced for 2026) are some of the very first pink flowered, dark scaped daylilies to be registered. To be sure, Vorlon Cheer and its family members are breakthroughs in breeding, bringing bright anthocyanic flower colors together with deeply pigmented black-brown to black scapes. The plant is breathtaking in full flower (see images below) and makes a stunning display with its bright, cheery flowers and dark scapes with many branches and high bud counts. Some days you get a bouquet effect, but because there are so many buds, this doesn't make for a short bloom season, and rebloom makes the flower season even longer.
With fast increase and fast recovery from division, Vorlon Cheer is an excellent plant for gardens and commercial use. The contrast of the bright flowers and the dark scapes makes for a stunning effect in the garden. The plant is strong, handling late freezes very well and still flowering. Thrips resistance is as high as both parents, though not quite as high as grandparents Samwise The Brave and Misty Mountains Cold, though much higher than grandparents Vorlon Encounter Suit and Lavender Feathers. Vorlon Cheer is an early-early flowering cultivar, one of the very first to flower in my garden, along with Samwise The Brave and Misty Mountains Cold - all flowering earlier than Stella D'Oro in my garden.
Vorlon Cheer is extremely fertile both ways, and is capable of setting a huge number of seeds, allowing you to grow lots of seedlings. I have only seen a few seedlings flower from Vorlon Cheer so far, but they have been quite nice. When crossed with other dark scaped types, you see some very dark black scapes, and it produces very bright anthocyanic colors, bright eye zones and should combine very nicely with interesting eye types, including patterned eyes. The red veining opens it up to use in veining programs as well. I can't say enough good things about Vorlon Cheer. It is a breakthrough plant from a breakthrough line and holds so much potential for future breeding.
