Comments: Elizabethan Rouged Cheeks shows many of the fine traits of its pod parent, my introduction Elizabethan Rainbow Portrait, but is in bright magenta and rose tones. The flower is larger than the pod parent, and show a form closer to pollen parent, Pacific Rainbow. The plant showed A+ rust resistance through the last 3 years of my rust testing program and has had above average thrips resistance, coming from ancestor tet. Janice Brown (through the pollen parent). The foliage is attractive and the scapes are moderately tall and show nice branching. However, as you will note in the images below, the plant was grown for years by a seedling pawpaw tree and the branches were in the range of four to five when the seedling was smaller, casting less shade. Expect higher branching in gardens with full sun and where inputs such as amendments, supplemental watering and fertilizer are used. The coloring is very bright and eye-catching and holds up well. Some flowers show a slight orange edge on the bright pink flowers, as you can see in the image below. This is also a trait I see on some flowers with the pod parent. Elizabethan Rouged Cheeks is fertile both ways and has been an excellent parent in my program.
