Comments: Fuchsia On High is a seedling coming from my introduction Eos At Dawn crossed to Solaris Symmetry, which I have used heavily at the base of my program for its many fine traits, not least of which is exceptional thrips resistance. Since Eos At Dawn also shows above average thrips resistance coming from Notify Ground Crew, I had high expectations for the thrips resistance of this cross and it didn't disappoint. Fuchsia On High was one of my most used pollen parents in the 2024 season, as it incorporates so many of the traits I desire in my program. In addition to thrips resistance, the scapes are very tall with great branching and high bud counts (see the images below). The plant is large with attractive, dormant foliage and it is highly fertile both ways, like the pod parent.

The flower is an old rose tone with a lavender hint. I was thrilled to get this step beyond yellow and red. Of course, with the pollen apparent there was a good chance of getting something beyond yellow or red, and this was a good step away from those hot, species-like flower colors. Fuchsia On High is a half-sibling to my previous introduction from Eos At Dawn, Astraea, and has been a very valuable breeder for giant types with non-species flower coloring in my program, and I think she will go on to be of benefit in many other programs, especially with the above average thrips resistance. If you want to get your fancy flower out of the foliage and onto tall, strong, well-branched/budded scapes, Fuchsia On High will be of great use to you.
