Comments: Leaping Screaming is one of those interesting flowers that is just in your face, literally screaming for attention and leaping out past the others surrounding it. With striking purple color, a pale watermark and a lot of green in the throat that lasts all day, it is a sight to behold. The foliage is attractive, a nice rich green with the flowers hovering a few inches above, setting them off beautifully. With an A+ rust resistance rating for the last three years of my rust resistance screening program, and showing moderate thrips resistance, Leaping Screaming is a great plant for the garden. It is also fertile both ways, and so it is special for breeding for both rust and thrips resistance, as well as gorgeous color and unusual form flowers. The flowers are consistently unusual form, crispate with quilled sepals. The plant shows good vigor and is a good increaser. I highly recommend it for gardeners and diploid breeding programs. It shows a very nice and consistent coloring, as well as beautifully formed flowers that are consistently unusual and quilled. These traits combined with the great plant traits make it a wonderful specimen with many uses.
